Since 2014, this medicine is approve in Japan to treat cases of influenza that are unresponsive to conventional treatment.
Fabiflu Tablet may cause side effects like diarrhoea, decrease in white blood cell count (especially neutrophils), increase in blood uric acid levels, and elevated liver enzyme levels. Consult your doctor if your diarrhoea worsens or if you are concerned about the side effects. Do not discontinue this medicine without consulting your doctor. Seek immediate medical attention if you see signs of allergic reactions like hives, skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, difficulty breathing, etc.

General warnings
Hyperuricaemia
Fabiflu Tablet may increase the uric acid levels in the blood and hence should be use with extreme caution if you have hyperuricaemia (increased uric acid levels in the blood), gout, or a history of gout. Report any unusual symptoms such as pain, swelling, or stiffness in joints, difficulty in movement, etc. to your doctor immediately. Your doctor may recommend close monitoring of the blood uric acid levels, appropriate corrective measures, dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative based on your clinical condition.
Kidney impairment
Fabiflu Tablet is not recommend for use if you have or had kidney problems as Favipiravir can cause kidney damage in some people. Inform your doctor of any kidney issues you may have before starting treatment with Fabiflu Tablet.
Liver impairment
Fabiflu Tablet is not recommend for use if you have or had liver problems. Favipiravir is process in the liver which can lead to its accumulation in the body and decreased elimination in people with liver impairment. Use of contraception
